The box can be used to store the beads in the shop, it fits both the large and small beads. There can be 1 large bead in each compartment and there can be a minimum of 10 of the small beads in each compartment, which means that there can easily be 2 or 3 colors in each compartment. The box can also be sold as is, as it can be used for, among other things, beads, hobby projects, and only your imagination sets the limit.
The box is delivered in untreated wood and is therefore easy to change the colors, by either staining or painting it, so that it fits in with what you need it for. The box can also be used to hang up and use for storing shot glasses, or other small glasses. Fits well in a summer house, where it can also be hung up and used for storing beach finds or other things. Like everything else from MY-Candle, only your imagination sets the limit.
The box is made of “Tong wood”. Tong wood typically refers to a wood material that comes from the Paulownia tree, also known as “kiri” in Japan. It is a lightweight and strong wood that is often used in construction, furniture making, and musical instruments. The wood is known for its lightness, resistance to warping, and fast-growing nature. In Asia, Paulownia wood has traditionally been used for many purposes, including making boxes for storing kimonos, musical instruments such as the koto (a Japanese stringed instrument), and furniture.
Paulownia is also notable for its ability to regenerate rapidly, making it a popular choice in sustainable forestry. The wood’s low density and high strength-to-weight ratio make it suitable for applications where a lightweight yet robust material is required.
The Paulownia tree is a genus of fast-growing trees native to East Asia, particularly China, Japan, and Korea. The tree is known for several remarkable characteristics, which make it popular both commercially and culturally.
Key properties of the Paulownia tree:
- Fast growth: The Paulownia tree is one of the fastest growing trees in the world. Under ideal conditions, it can grow up to 3-4 meters per year, making it an efficient resource for timber production.
- Light but strong: The wood is light, with a low density, making it easy to work with. Despite its lightness, it is also relatively strong and stable, making it useful for a variety of purposes.
- Resilience: Paulownia wood is resistant to rot and insect attack, making it suitable for outdoor use, although it is traditionally most often used for indoor applications.
- Low moisture content: The wood has a naturally low moisture content, making it less likely to shrink or swell than other types of wood, making it a good choice for making furniture and musical instruments.
- Uses: Paulownia is used for a variety of purposes, including:
- Furniture: Lightweight furniture that is easy to move and resistant to deformation.
- Musical instruments: Used to make traditional Japanese instruments such as the koto and shamisen.
- Building materials: Due to its light weight and durability, it is also used in construction, especially in sustainable buildings.
- Storage boxes: Traditionally used to store kimonos in Japan, as the wood protects against moisture and insects.
- Ecological advantage: The Paulownia tree also has a deep root structure, which enables it to improve the soil and prevent erosion. It also absorbs large amounts of CO2, making it an environmentally friendly crop in forestry.
Because of all these properties, the Paulownia tree has become popular in both Asia and the rest of the world, especially in the context of sustainable agriculture and forestry.
